Yet, despite their success in streamlining test execution, LambdaTest identified a persistent bottleneck. “Despite all the progress, we realized the pain points we thought we’d solved five years ago around test creation still existed today,” reveals Mudit Singh, VP of Product & Growth at LambdaTest. Even with numerous low-code tools available, challenges around test reuse, siloed data, and the sheer complexity of authoring robust tests remained significant hurdles for development and QA teams.

In this exclusive interview, Mudit shares the journey of building KaneAI, the specific pain points it addresses, how it integrates into the broader LambdaTest vision, and his perspective on the future of AI-driven software quality assurance.

Q1. What factors led to the development of KaneAI?
Mudit: The idea behind KaneAI was inspired by customer requests and feedback we had received over the past few years. Despite the plethora of low-code testing tools at their disposal, enterprise teams faced a lot of challenges with low-code testing. The reuse of tests became problematic, and using independent tooling for creating and executing tests resulted in siloed test data.
Kane AI was born out of our goal to specifically solve these fundamental issues by democratizing testing capabilities via natural language processing and tying in seamlessly to our existing capabilities of test planning, execution, orchestration, and analysis that we had already developed. We wanted to create a holistic solution for quality teams of any size and any technical abilities that will speed up their continuous testing efforts!
Q2. How does Kane AI fit into LambdaTest's broader vision for test automation and AI-driven software quality assurance?
Mudit: From the beginning, LambdaTest has been committed to providing a scalable, fully functioning, unified testing ecosystem that caters to SMB and enterprise testing needs.
Kane AI complements this ecosystem by fulfilling the indispensable first phase of the testing lifecycle, which is test creation. By establishing the links between our base services of the platform, we have built a truly end-to-end platform where teams can plan, author, conduct, and analyse tests, all on the same platform, all using natural language.
Being language agnostic, KaneAI democratizes quality assurance and allows all stakeholders, not just technical experts, the ability to influence the quality of applications. This felt aligned and ultimately leads you back to our point about making software testing easier, smoother, and part of the development process.
Kane AI really reflects our commitment to innovation as well. We’re building intelligent solutions powered by advanced AI (and a large dataset of billions of tests being run on our platform) that address today’s testing challenges and even anticipate future challenges for organisations.
Q3. What specific pain points in software testing did you identify that Kane AI aims to solve?
Mudit: We identified several critical pain points in software testing that Kane AI specifically addresses:
First, there exists a very high barrier to entry for test automation. In the past, testing automation often required specialised coding skills or used complicated low-code tools. It also required specialised technical skill sets and limits who can contribute to creating testing. With Kane AI, anybody can generate test cases and even evolve them using natural language. It opens the door for all stakeholders to assess quality. We believe Quality is everyone’s responsibility, and it shouldn’t be restricted to a team or two.
Second was the siloed experience from all the different tools in the testing workflow. Testing teams are using multiple disconnected tools for various stages in the testing workflow, which creates disconnected silos and workflow delays. KaneAI is being integrated into the testing delivery and execution, while all are completely integrated into the LambdaTest ecosystem at every stage of the testing lifecycle.
Third, the age-old problem of maintaining the testing library. Once the UI changes to an application, a traditional test would have previously broken, waiting for someone to rewrite the test and days or weeks later, the testing library expands and becomes unmanageable to the original team that created the test. Kane AI’s intent-based approach updates the library to make the test format more resilient to UI changes.
Q4. Who are the primary users of KaneAI? How does KaneAI change the way they conduct test automation compared to existing solutions?
Mudit: Kane AI serves anyone who is involved in a digital-first business. From a primary user segment, we do see a majority of users tuning in from the broad spectrum of the software development lifecycle:
For QA professionals: Kane AI eliminates the need to write complex test code, allowing QA professionals to focus on the test strategy rather than the implementation effort. They can express complex testing scenarios in natural language, only to have them automate instantly!
For developers: The platform integrates easily within the developer workflow, allowing developers to validate changes quickly without the gain of context between different tools or learning a test framework.
For product managers and business analysts: Kane AI empowers non-technical stakeholders to contribute to quality assurance directly by translating product requirements into executable tests using natural language.
For testing newcomers: Teams just starting the automation journey can build strong testing frameworks quickly and have the necessary in-house expertise and training.
For mature QA organizations: Established teams can extend Kane AI by adding tests to existing test suites, improving coverage and reducing the impacted test maintenance sessions!

The product is currently in private beta with a select set of customers and power-users, and we are gathering measurable results. Our early adopters are seeing meaningful gains in speed of test creation, increased test coverage, and lowered maintenance overheads. These are metrics we’ll be able to share in more detail and with greater specificity as each customer finishes their implementation.
Q5. How does Kane AI handle multi-language test generation, self-healing automation scripts, or real-device testing differently?
Mudit: Kane AI takes a fundamentally different approach to these technical challenges:
For multi-language test generation, Kane AI enables multi-language test generation, allowing the user to define their test scenario in natural language one time and then export that test in multiple frameworks and programming languages. Therefore, the single test definition can be produced as a Selenium test written with Java, and as Playwright with Python, or Cypress with JavaScript, for example, reducing unnecessary manual duplication of effort while keeping the intent of the test the same across all implementations.
Regarding self-healing automation scripts, Kane AI’s approach is revolutionary because tests are based on natural language intents rather than brittle UI selectors. When a UI element changes, instead of requiring explicit selector updates, tests can be patched in real-time based on the underlying intent. This dramatically reduces maintenance overhead and test flakiness.
For real-device testing, we’ve made mobile testing a first-class citizen in Kane AI. Users can construct mobile app tests purely using natural language, and these tests are executed on our extensive grid of real devices. The AI understands mobile-specific concepts and interactions, creating tests that work reliably across different device types and operating systems.
Q6. What role does predictive intelligence and AI-driven test debugging play in improving efficiency?
Mudit: Predictive intelligence plays a crucial role in improving testing efficiency by:
● Identifying flaky test trends and highlighting error classification
● Suggesting appropriate assertions that might be overlooked
● Identifying edge cases that should be covered for comprehensive testing
● Recommending test optimizations based on patterns observed across billions of tests on our platform
AI-driven test debugging dramatically reduces the time to resolve failures by:

Q7. How did you validate Kane AI's value proposition with users? What user behaviour insights led to refining its capabilities?
Mudit: To validate Kane AI’s value proposition, we took a methodical approach focused on real-world testing challenges. We began by engaging our existing customer base, particularly those who had provided feedback about test creation challenges. This gave us access to teams with diverse testing maturity levels and requirements.
Our validation process included:
● In-depth interviews with testing teams to understand their workflow pain points
● Prototype testing with select users to gauge initial reactions and gather feedback
● Limited beta access for power users to implement Kane AI in real-world scenarios
● Continuous feedback loops with early adopters to refine capabilities
Several key user behaviour insights influenced our development:
First, we observed that even experienced automation engineers preferred natural language test creation for many scenarios once they became comfortable with the system. This was somewhat surprising, as we initially expected Kane AI to primarily serve less technical users. This insight led us to enhance the sophistication of our natural language processing capabilities to handle complex testing patterns.
Secondly, we learned that the capability to seamlessly translate between code and natural language descriptions (our 2-way test editing feature) was particularly useful. Users wanted to use their existing test code instead of having to start again from scratch, which led us to build out stronger features for “promptifying” existing test codebases.
Third, we found that users valued integration with their existing tools and workflows even more than we expected. This motivated us to prioritize deeper integration with issues tracking systems, CI/CD systems, and communication tools.
One particularly surprising finding was how quickly teams started to think about tests around user intents and not technical implementations. This validated our approach and encouraged us to continue to evolve our intent-based testing model.
These insights have directly influenced our product roadmap, driving us to focus on capability depth over capability breadth and prioritizing the importance of an open, integrated ecosystem over a closed platform.
Q8. What AI-driven feedback mechanisms help you improve the product dynamically?
Mudit: We’ve implemented several AI-driven feedback mechanisms that help us continuously improve Kane AI:
First, we leverage anonymized usage patterns from the billions of tests run on our platform to identify common testing scenarios, challenges, and failure patterns. This massive dataset allows our AI models to learn from real-world testing behaviors and improve over time.
Second, we analyze how users interact with Kane AI’s natural language interface, noting where they rephrase commands, abandon certain approaches, or struggle to express testing intents. This helps us refine our language understanding capabilities and make the interface more intuitive.
Third, we track test success rates and stability over time, using AI to identify patterns in test failures that might indicate limitations in our test generation capabilities. This closed-loop system allows Kane AI to learn from its own performance and adapt accordingly.
Fourth, we conduct sentiment analysis of user feedback and support interactions to find pain points and potential improvements that users may not explicitly mention. We gain insight into the emotional elements of the user experience, not just the functional elements.
Finally, we have created an AI-based recommendation system that analyzes each customer’s testing practices and suggests improvements based on best practices observed within our platform, which benefits the customers best. However, this also informs us of common testing needs and challenges they are experiencing.
Together, these mechanisms complement each other, creating a dynamic improvement cycle where Kane AI learns from real-world usage and evolves based on new testing needs.
Q9. Did you face resistance in AI adoption from traditional test engineers? What strategies have worked best in driving enterprise adoption of Kane AI?
Mudit: Indeed, we faced some initial doubts from traditional test engineers, which is typical of any transformative technology. Many seasoned testers have spent years developing specialization with code, and there were legitimate concerns that the AI may downgrade their skills and produce tests that were not as reliable as a human.
To address this resistance, we implemented several effective strategies.
First, we positioned Kane AI as an augmentation tool rather than a replacement for testing expertise. We emphasized how it handles the mundane aspects of test creation and maintenance, freeing engineers to focus on more strategic work that requires human judgment.
Second, we highlighted the 2-way test editing capability (code-to-instruction and instruction-to- code translation) that allows engineers to leverage their existing test code. This was particularly powerful because it showed we were building on their work rather than discarding it.
Third, we created transparent AI that explains its testing decisions. Engineers can see exactly what the AI is doing and why, which builds trust in the system’s capabilities.
For driving enterprise adoption, these strategies have proven most effective:
● Incremental implementation: Encouraging teams to start with a small subset of tests to build confidence before broader adoption
● Champions program: Identifying and supporting internal advocates who understand both the technical and business benefits

Our focus, first and foremost, is product-led growth, where the product’s inherent value drives adoption. We created multiple features specifically for this:
● Personalized insights dashboard: Users receive AI-generated analytics about their testing coverage, efficiency, and quality trends, with actionable recommendations for improvement
● Intelligent test suggestions: Based on application changes and user behavior, Kane AI proactively suggests new test scenarios that might be overlooked
● Success metrics: Teams can see the time saved, issues caught, and quality improvements achieved through Kane AI
● Progressive capability revelation: As users become more comfortable with basic features, the system introduces more advanced capabilities at appropriate moments
We’re also implementing specific engagement strategies to deepen product usage:

Additionally, the early metrics regarding users returning for regular use and users growing are promising. We will continue to refine these strategies based on user engagement behavior regularly to ensure that Kane AI becomes a staple in the testing workflow.
Q11. AI is rapidly changing software testing. What are the biggest trends that you think will shape this space in the next 3-5 years?
Mudit:The next 3-5 years will bring transformative changes to software testing driven by several key AI trends:
1. Testing shifts left, to the design phase: AI will enable testing to move earlier in the development lifecycle, with systems that can analyze requirements and designs to identify potential issues before code is written. This will fundamentally change the economics of quality by catching problems at their lowest-cost point.
2. Intent-based testing replaces implementation-based testing: Tests will be increasingly defined by what they aim to verify instead of how they are verifying it. The rationale, which we have already started adopting at Kane AI, will make the tests more resistant to changes in implementation and will be far more aligned with business objectives.
3. Autonomous test maintenance and evolution: AI systems will take over the burden of maintaining test suites as applications evolve, automatically updating tests to reflect changes in functionality and UI. This will dramatically reduce the maintenance overhead that plagues traditional automation.
4. Testing becomes continuous and ambient: Rather than discrete testing phases, AI will enable the continuous evaluation of application quality through intelligent monitoring and simulation. Testing will become an ambient activity happening constantly in the background.
5. Quality governance at scale: As organizations manage hundreds or thousands of applications, AI will become essential for implementing consistent quality standards and practices across the entire portfolio.
